Doug Hofeling, the founder of Opening Day, is a native Utahn with over 25 years of experience in the hospitality, craft beverage, and leisure industries. Doug has worked at every level of the industry, from busser to Chief Operating Officer; and in every facet of the industry, from food trucks to fine dining, and multi-unit, multi-state operations. Doug has opened, overseen, and renovated operations in Utah, Colorado, California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and Michigan.

It was during the pandemic that Doug decided to take his experience and move into consulting. Seeing so many restaurants, many owned and operated by his friends, struggle and fail led Doug to believe that he could be a benefit to operators, where sometimes a mere cost percentage or two over budget can mean the difference between success and failure.

Doug’s consulting has taken him to Layton, Ogden, Eden, Sandy, Cottonwood Heights, and downtown Salt Lake City. Doug brings his considerable experience to bear to help start up new projects, rescue failing ones, or simply help maximize the profitability of successful ones.
